Downing Street is continuing to face speculation over Keir Starmer’s future, with Wes Streeting and Andy Burnham setting out their leadership pitches.
After a difficult set of local election results, with close to 100 Labour MPs calling on Keir Starmer to go or set out a timetable for his departure, the Prime Minister has insisted he is going nowhere and is focused on delivering for the country.
However, with Josh Simons resigning as an MP so that Andy Burnham can contest the seat with a view to returning to Parliament, the Mayor of Greater Manchester has also made clear he thinks it’s time to take the party in a different direction.
YouGov asked Labour Party members in a poll to rank in order of preference who they would most like to see lead the Labour Party.
Here are the results:
Burnham: 47% first choice
Starmer: 31%
Rayner: 8%
Streeting: 4%
Miliband: 3%
Cooper: 3%
Mahmood: 1%
Carns: 0%
