It's short but covers a lot of ground
Bernie Sanders has said he and progressives would ‘vigorously oppose’ President Donald Trump should he pursue ‘racist, sexist, xenophobic and anti-environment policies’.
In his first statement after Trump’s election on Tuesday, Sanders said the result was caused by anger over growing inequality in America.
The Vermont Senator, who lost the Democratic Party nomination to Hillary Clinton, said he and progressives are willing to work with Trump ‘to the degree that he is serious’ about improving the lives of working people.
His remarks come after Senator Elizabeth Warren, a fierce critic of Trump during the campaign, held out an olive branch yesterday, telling the Boston Globe: ‘President-elect Trump promised to rebuild our economy for working people, and I offer to put aside our differences and work with him on that task.’
Here is the full statement from Sanders:
“Donald Trump tapped into the anger of a declining middle class that is sick and tired of establishment economics, establishment politics and the establishment media.
People are tired of working longer hours for lower wages, of seeing decent paying jobs go to China and other low-wage countries, of billionaires not paying any federal income taxes and of not being able to afford a college education for their kids – all while the very rich become much richer.
To the degree that Mr. Trump is serious about pursuing policies that improve the lives of working families in this country, I and other progressives are prepared to work with him.
To the degree that he pursues racist, sexist, xenophobic and anti-environment policies, we will vigorously oppose him.”

I think Anon has hit the nail on the head. We are moving into a time of revolution. The left-behinders have spoken in the UK and the US. Their needs have been dreadfully neglected since the crash of 2008 and before. We need clean, clear and articulate policies from Labour that is comprehensive and deals with those things that actually matter to this vast number of ignored traditional Labour supporters. The Labour message is fundamentally fair. It needs to address changes to taxation and investment in the UK, and be prepared to talk about immigration as well as the things we are good at such as social care and the NHS. We really cannot keep waiting for white smoke to emanate from the University-educated in secret rooms in darkest Islington. Labour supporters across the country should be being energised by the prospects for a radical shift in the UK.
If you really haven’t got anything better to do then here is a strawman policy that I think provides an outline of the sort of thing we need. See: http://tinyurl.com/zak9jhu

Yeah, the wind has changed! It’s BLOWING IN YOUR FACE! You weren’t chosen, Berners old son, get over it.
That’s why you come out with names. Well, old cock, try insulting the left wing rioters who smash up America, just ‘cos you’re not the boss. Try insulting those snowflake idiots holding candlelight vigils, for example in Bristol.
‘Ooooo, my kids are upset!’ Yeah, cos you made ’em, whacko!
Try insulting JEAN CLAUDE JUNKER, big shot in that EU you seem to all love. He’s extended the hand of friendship to Trump, to beg him to stand by the EU in its time of PC trouble!
Oh, YES! Yeeee-haaa, grab that chili dog and ride your horse! There’s been a HUGE socker-punch to the left wing craw by the public! And boy, are these fruitloops all-a-reelin’!
