Reform suspends two councillors over misconduct in Nigel Farage’s constituency
The hard-right party has suspended multiple councillors pending an investigation this week
Reform has been forced to suspend two councillors in Nigel Farage’s own constituency this week, one over “serious misconduct” and another for “damaging the party’s interests”.
On Wednesday, Bradley Thompson was suspended. Thompson is a councillor for Clacton West and St Osyth ward on Essex County Council, as well as for West Clacton and Jaywick Sands for Tendring District Council.
Reform says he was suspended “following several serious and well-documented allegations of misconduct”, but has not provided any details of the allegations.
On 17 September, Reform issued a blanket statement saying councillor Chris Perera had been suspended after a party investigation found “he damaged the party’s interests”.
Perera is a councillor for Mersea and Pyefleet ward on Essex County Council.
Thompson and Perera both won their council seats in Farage’s constituency on 7 May this year.
In Lichfield, councillor Dean Robertson was suspended from Reform pending an investigation earlier this week.
Matthew Wallens, a Lichfield District and Staffordshire County Councillor, was also suspended by Reform pending investigation this week.
In Durham, three Reform councillors – Lyndsey Fox, Nicole Brown and Paul Sexton – quit the party last week after Sky News did an investigation into political chaos and bullying allegations at the Reform-led local authority.
