Disaster for Nigel Farage: Reform leader drops to lowest approval rating since general election

It’s getting pretty bad for Nigel Farage, after an opinion poll found that his approval rating has dropped to its lowest level since the general election, in another blow to the arch Brexiteer.

Polling on the approval rating of party leaders carried out by More in Common, found that Farage is on -32, his lowest rating since the election in 2024.

It comes as Farage lurches from one scandal to the next, with question marks remaining over his finances and failure to properly declare financial support.

His stunt, quitting as an MP in Clacton, only to re-stand so that the ‘people can be his judge’ has also spectacularly backfired after all major parties refused to entertain him, meaning he is left facing satirical candidate Count Binface. 

Meanwhile Labour’s new leader Andy Burnham has taken office pledging bold and radical action to help people with the cost of living crisis, announcing a policy blitz which has included a cut to VAT on electricity bills, a cap on bus fares and an end to rough sleeping, with more measures on the way.

Burnham has made clear, in contrast to his predecessors, that he intends to bring about radical political and economic change.

The polls have reacted favourably, with the Prime Minister now at +19 after a two-week policy blitz.

That rating is higher than the +11 Keir Starmer achieved just after he was voted into office in July 2024 – though he dropped to -49 late last year.

Meanwhile Tory leader Kemi Badenoch is on 0, while Lib Dem leader Ed Davey is on -11.

Green leader Zack Polanski is also struggling on -24, having taken a sharp downward turn in recent weeks.
