Sixty per cent of Scots want Nicola Sturgeon to drop IndyRef2

Has the turmoil surrounding Theresa May’s electoral disaster distracted from the dramatic change in Nicola Sturgeon’s fortunes?
According to a new Survation poll for the Daily Record, 60 per cent of Scottish voters want Sturgeon to abandon her plans for a second independence referendum, including a third of those who voted ‘Yes’ in 2014. Just 27 per cent think Sturgeon should press ahead with her plans for a second referendum.
The poll also shows that if a referendum were held tomorrow, the ‘No’ side would win by 57 to 43 per cent.
Since the SNP lost 21 seats in last week’s general election, there have been reports that the party leadership is reconsidering its strategy on a second referendum. Big-name losses included the party’s Westminster leader Angus Robertson and former Scottish first minister Alex Salmond.
While Sturgeon has managed the fallout from the general election better than May has, it has done serious damage to her and her party.
