With Reform slumping and Andy Burnham riding high in the polls, GB News can’t be best pleased, with the right-wing channel left clutching straws as they scratch their heads on what to do next.
GB News, which has long acted as a mouthpiece for Farage and Reform UK, even providing him with a prime-time show, is doing all it can to back the arch Brexiteer, even as he lurches from one scandal to the next.
They’ve repeatedly tried to land a blow on Burnham and have thus far failed, with their latest claim being brutally mocked.
They tried to claim that Burnham had ‘refused to take a question’ from their political editor, during a press conference the Prime Minister delivered on reforming social care in England.
During the press conference, the prime minister was taking a question from Sky News’s Sam Coates, and as he was mid-way through, GB News’s political editor Christopher Hope could be seen in the background raising his hand, in an attempt to ask a question to Burnham.
Given that Coates was already asking a question, Burnham let Coates finish, however according to GB News that amounts to ‘ignoring them’.
GB News wrote on X: “Watch: Andy Burnham refuses to take a question from GB News’ Political Editor @ChristopherHope at his first press conference as Prime Minister.”
It didn’t quite get the reaction GB News had hoped, and backfired spectacularly.
One social media user wrote: “He had his hand up while someone else was speaking. He needed to wait. What’s the problem?” Another added: “Have you idiots posted the wrong clip? Or did you genuinely expect them to answer your question mid someone else speaking?”
GB News’ post was also community noted by X, which wrote: “During the video posted by GB News, Sam Coates of Sky is in the middle of asking a question. At no point does the Prime Minister refuse to answer a question from GB News.”
