Another poll puts Labour ahead of Reform UK
‘Starting to look like consistent evidence for a ‘Burnham bounce’’
Another poll, this time by polling firm Survation, has put Labour ahead of Reform UK, showing more evidence of a “Burnham bounce” effect.
The Survation poll puts Labour up one point, and two points ahead of Reform, on 26% of the vote, in another blow to Nigel Farage.
The survey of 1,012 voters shows Reform lagging behind on 24% of the vote, the Conservatives on 21%, the Greens and Lib Dems on 10%, the SNP on 3% and Restore Britain and Plaid Cymru on 2%.
The poll also found that 34% of respondents thought Burnham would make the best Prime Minister, while 22% thought the same about Farage and 19% felt Kemi Badenoch would make the best PM.
This comes after a More in Common poll published yesterday put Labour ahead of Reform for the first time since March 2025.
While Burnham has only been prime minister for just over a week, multiple polls already indicated an uptick in public support for Labour under his leadership.
A separate YouGov poll released yesterday also suggested Labour’s popularity is rising under Burnham. It showed Labour tied with Reform on 22% of the vote.
Steve Akehurst, Director of Persuasion UK, a not-for-profit research group, noted that the “Burnham bounce” is “largely” coming from “Labour 2024 voters returning to Labour – mostly those ‘progressive defectors’ who had previously switched to the Greens”.
Reacting to the poll, ITV presenter Paul Brand wrote on X: “Starting to look like consistent evidence for a ‘Burnham bounce’”.
Asked by Sky News’ political editor Sam Coates about the ‘Burnham bounce’, Burnham himself said “I wouldn’t get carried away by any poll” but said “I am pleased to have made a start where hopefully I’ve connected with people”.
