There are changes ahead at Left Foot Forward - after three-and-a-half years, the last two as Editor, Shamik Das is leaving LFF to pursue new challenges.
Dear Reader,
There are changes ahead at Left Foot Forward – after three-and-a-half years, the last two as Editor, I am leaving LFF to pursue new challenges.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here, helping build LFF into one of the leading British political blogs, with our evidence-based, pluaralistic approach. We have been voted the number one left-wing blog on two successive occasions in the Total Politics awards, and have been cited in publications from The Sunday Times to the Financial Times and been mentioned at Prime Minister’s Questions.
I am hugely proud of the major campaigns LFF has run over the past few years, including the work we have done to highlight: the cuts and unfair reforms to welfare – especially the impact on disabled people; the damage being done to the NHS by the government’s top-down reorganisation; the failure of austerity and the urgent need for a Plan B; the cuts to school sport and lack of coverage of women’s sport, which undemine our Olypmic legacy; the threat posed by extremism in all its forms at home and abroad; and the struggle for freedom the world over.
None of it would have been possible, however, without our readers, donors and supporters, and our incredible range of contributors, volunteers, experts and analysts across all areas of policy. I am indebted to you all for helping make Left Foot Forward the success it is today.
We are now looking to recruit an Assistant Editor – for more details see our advert here – please apply if interested or forward to anyone you think may be interested. This is a great place to work, the opportunities are immense, and the site, freshly redesigned, will continue to grow as we look ahead to the election in 2015 and a fresh chance to deliver progressive change in the UK.
Regards,
Shamik

I consider myself fairly left wing. I think that you need to look beyond Westminster and the Labour Party to rediscover what your name means.
“Left Foot Forward” is a great title.
It has absolutely nothing to do with the Labour Party.
I’d be an ‘entryist ‘ too, except I am SNP.
Y’know, the party you’d like to vote for on policy grounds that you can’t because they only stand candidates in Scotland.
Just saying.
