More Cameron claims fall flat

David Cameron's performance in Thursday's leaders' debate continued to unravel this weekend.

David Cameron’s performance in Thursday’s leaders’ debate continued to unravel this weekend. His claims that Humberside Police had “five different police cars and they were just about to buy a £73,000 Lexus” were disputed by the police, who pointed out just how misleading and factually inaccurate he was. The Met also challenged Cameron’s jibes about “form-fillers” as misleading and out of context.

He has also been called out in a new video which highlights more differences between what he says on camera, and what he does off it: fine words on care for the elderly – but he walked away from cross party talks on care; on policing – but he won’t protect the police from cuts; and on education – yet schools will also not be protected from cuts.

Watch it:

On Friday, Left Foot Forward debunked Cameron’s misleading use of cancer stats, and his bracketing of China with Iran as potential nuclear threats to this country.

Also this weekend, his farcical anecdote about meeting a “40-year-old black man” who had served in the Navy “for 30 years” fell apart, the Plymouth Herald revealing the gentleman in question is 51 years old. He told the paper that:

“Britain needs immigrants.”

The dog whistles are out over at ConHome today, perhaps following up that Mail question about ‘is there anything British about Nick Clegg. Take this nugget –

This Clegg gimmick of offering a referendum on the EU is a beautiful sign of what a shallow little s***stirring waster he really is. It’s a sign he’s desperate to keep the featherweight bandwagon going, and a sign that it’s going to go nowhere. Then at least Clegg can spend more time with Antonio, Alberto and Miguel and the Spanish side of his family, or the Dutch, or the Russian…

Shame really, I thought Tim M was better than to allow that sort of xenophobic crap through.

I will always remember what happened in I think October when Cameron derided that boat trip in Hull, which in fact was doing useful things for our young people.

And Cameron talks about keeping the elderly in their own homes and providing everything they need. In which case, why is the Tory-controled Nottinghamshire County Council levying new and increased charges for services such as Meals on Wheels, day centres ETC?

And Cameron talks about protecting things such as concessionary travel, but, again, why is the Tory-controled Notts County Council cutting such concessionary travel?

Answer: because it prioritizes freezing council tax at all costs, 3 new cabinet posts, and other waste over the provision of services.

And Cameron said that we should use this to judge how the Tories would govern nationally. As is demonstrated here; this tax-cutting spree is more of a priority than cutting the defecit.
