New poll shows Count Binface has support of 20% of Clacton voters
1 in five plan to back Binface
The first poll of voters living in Clacton ahead of the upcoming by-election there has been published, thanks to polling firm Survation.
Despite a record 34 candidates on the ballot, the poll suggests that the vast majority of them won’t be receiving many votes.
Indeed only two candidates polled more than two per cent of the vote – Nigel Farage and Count Binface.
With all the major parties boycotting the by-election, Binface appears to have hoovered up a large proportion of the anti-Farage vote.
According to the poll, 20 per cent of voters intend to vote for Binface, compared to 73 per cent who intend to vote for Farage.
While the poll suggests that Farage will – as expected – comfortably win the by-election, the fact that one in five voters in his constituency appear likely to walk to a polling station to vote for a fictional intergalactic space warrior with a bin for a helmet is hardly a ringing endorsement from the electorate.
