A clear majority of Londoners would vote to rejoin the European Union if a referendum were held today, a new poll has revealed, as disillusionment with Brexit continues to grow.
With the adverse economic impacts of Brexit clearly there for all to see, and economic analysis highlighting that it had reduced GDP between 6-8%, with London’s economy alone shrinking by £30bn, are we surprised the public sentiment has turned against Brexit?
An independent report in 2024 carried out by Cambridge Econometrics, commissioned by City Hall, also showed that London has 290,000 fewer jobs than if Brexit had not taken place.
It’s no surprise then that a new poll carried out by Savanta UK for the Mile End Institute, Queen Mary University of London has found that two thirds (67%) of Londoners would vote to rejoin the EU if a referendum was held tomorrow.
When broken down by age demographic, the number of people wanting to rejoin to the EU rises to 85% for those aged 18-34.
