In a rare intervention, BBC Question Time has hit back at Reform UK after Nigel Farage’s party claimed that the programme was biased against them.
Farage has made no secret of his dislike of the BBC, claiming that the corporation was ‘infected with left-wing bias’.
Now his party’s latest attack on the BBC comes after a report in the Mail on Sunday claimed that presenter Fiona Bruce admitted privately that the show’s audience is packed with people opposed to the right-wing party.
In a post on X, Reform said: “BBC bias knows no bounds. The TV license is a scam. Reform UK will scrap it.”
However, Question Time’s official X account hit back at Reform’s claims by insisting the show’s vetting procedures were “robust”.
The programme said: “Not true. Fiona Bruce and the team have always made clear that Question Time has robust vetting procedures in place.
“Everyone who applies to be in the audience is interviewed and has to provide links to their social media accounts. If they don’t – they don’t get in.”
