A clear majority of Britons support rejoining the EU as we approach the 10th anniversary of the Brexit vote, a poll has found.

The poll, carried out by YouGov, found that 55% of respondents support rejoining the EU, after the decision to leave 10 years ago.

It comes at a time when the adverse impacts of Brexit are there for all to see, with the economic hit taking an effect.

Repeated opinion polls have shown that the majority of Brits now favour rejoining the EU, with the regret over Brexit at an all-time high.

Alongside a majority favouring rejoining the EU, 59% support a closer relationship with the EU.

The findings also come amid a battle for the Labour leadership, with Wes Streeting saying he would like Britain to rejoin.
