The latest poll of voting intention shows the Labour government gaining in support, while Reform’s lead continues to drop into the single digits.

After a tumultuous set of local election results, which saw the Labour party lose hundreds of council seats up and down the country, as well as the likes of Wes Streeting quitting the cabinet, the government has had a number of successes in recent weeks.

Last month, it was revealed that net migration to the UK fell by nearly 50% to 171,000 last year, according to official figures, with the difference between the number of people moving to the UK and the number of people leaving at its lowest level since 2021.

The government was also boosted by a fall in inflation from 3.3% to 2.8% in year to April, while the economy  grew by 0.3% in March, which was significantly better than economists’ forecasts that GDP would shrink by 0.2%.

The latest YouGov voting intention poll puts Reform on 27%, while the Tories and the Labour Party are both on 18%. Compared to last month, Labour has gained a point in the polls.

Compared to last year, the gap between the Labour government and Reform has narrowed. While Farage’s party was scoring polling highs in the 30s, that has now consistently dropped to around the mid 20s.
