Poll: What outcome would you most like to see at the General Election?

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Of the possible governments post-May, which would you prefer?

The General Election really is, to use the cliche, too close to call. Labour has a slight but fairly stable lead in the polls according to YouGov, but other polls have the Tories ahead (one ICM poll today gives them a four point lead over Labour).

Meanwhile the Greens and UKIP are likely to add to their one and two respective seats and no one knows how many (or how few) seats the SNP and the Lib Dems will get.

And so we want to ask you, the reader, which of the possible outcomes you would prefer, come May. The results of the survey will be published early next week.

I agree with you that the LibDems were totally naive about their ability to influence the Tories in the coalition. It was their failure over tuition fees that showed the Tories that they could swallow any humiliation, accept any level of office so long as it gave them some measure of power and accept any defeat of any red-line issue so long as they did not have to face another election (for which they had no money to fight). They may still hold some measure of power on 8th May so we can only hope they have learned that he who has lunch with a tiger ends up as the lunch.

You seem to have omitted Plaid Cymru in a possible coalition with Labour/SNP/Greens. They’re almost certain to end up with more MPs than the Greens and very probably UKIP. They already have informal co-operation with the SNP and Greens.

The LibDems made promises during the election, and attracted a lot of leftward-leaning voters as a result. That’s all gone now, and they’ve been tarnished because Cabinet Collective Responsibility means they’re fully, fully liable for every coalition decision. Oh, and they lied on their signed pledge on tuition fees.

On the other hand, the Tories are expected to be the Nasty Party.

PR must be the future ………only then will the MP’s truly reflect the countries views.
