An unemployed man who had not eaten for three days because his benefits had been stopped set fire to a job centre in order to get a hot meal in police custody, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Bee O’Brien, 49, set fire to the customer telephones at a jobcentre in Moss side after a row about his benefits.
O’Brien told police he would “commit a crime and get arrested. I need some food”.
According to the Evening News:
‘O’Brien, of Camelford Close, Hulme, admitted criminal damage, attempted arson, and using threatening words and behaviour when he appeared before Manchester magistrates.
Gina Clayton, defending, said: “His benefits had been stopped for some reason and he hadn’t eaten for three days. He was simply desperate for some food. He went to the job centre to get his payments and lost his temper.
“He was aware that if he was arrested he would have been given food at the police station.”’
O’Brien was given a 12 month community order and ordered to do 40 hours unpaid work.
Last month a disabled man took his own life after worrying about how he would manage once his benefits were stopped.

Well you could always try out the theory Robert and see if you are treated in a way that is humane and respectful. You should be so lucky! As these people do not give out the respect they deserve, They are rude abrupt and down right nasty, Not all are this way but they are the few, There have been some whistle blower who have addmited they have a number of case a day to throw off benefits or sanction so they dont need an excuse to try and rub you up the wrong way there is a number they target each day to do this, so obviously you are lucky to not have to go to these places as they are very degrading to say the least.

I have Known them to threaten to sanction single mums that if they miss an appointment they will be sanctioned even if that means leaving theire young children to be left in school after home time and not all schools can or will keep the children in school till you get there what a disgrace and very irresponsible to make a parent have an interview and expected to leave there kids roaming the street as the appointment was for 3. 30 and a bus journey away. Disgusting.

Government’s thought process “If you’re worried about benefit cuts there are things called jobs.” It’s fucking terrible that someone would have to take such measures for a simple goddam meal but that’s how the government sees it. There is unemployment mainly due to immigration being excessive and very relaxed in this country. Maybe if the gates weren’t so wide open jobs would be easier to find. It’s not that simple anymore either as these days you need to go through so much red bastard tape just to get employed as a part time cleaner or some such crap.
Three things would fix this:
Better motivation to go to work (IE – Job Centres ACTUALLY helping people properly and not being deterred by the almost guaranteed point that someone who’s lived here for 4 minutes will get it over an actual brit)
Get a real government that’s not just full of absolute bastards.
Employers cut the shit and give people a goddam chance (also see above coz they shouldn’t favour immigrants just to LOOK diverse)
