Had an accident playing sport? The Tories want you to pay for your treatment

People in Wales suffering accidents through sporting activity could be subject to an 'activity tax' under new Tory proposals. Conservative AM Darren Millar said on a radio phone-in show that individuals putting themselves at high risk through their own choice could be charged by the NHS.

People in Wales suffering accidents through sporting activity could be subject to an ‘activity tax’ under new Tory proposals.

Conservative AM Darren Millar said on a radio phone-in show that individuals putting themselves at high risk through their own choice could be charged by the NHS.

Asked whether people who go skiing should be charged by the NHS if they have an accident, the Conservative health spokesperson said:

“I think if people put themselves in areas of high risk through their own choice then there ought to be a discussion about whether it’s appropriate for the NHS to pick up the bill for the risks that they take.”

In response, Welsh Labour AM Ken Skates warned that this could mark the start of a “very slippery slope towards introducing a private insurance model of healthcare”.

“Whilst the Tories might want that, it would be very costly for communities in Wales with a legacy of ill-health,” he added.

Unlike exercise, smoking has no health benefit.

They aren’t killed by doctors or nurses are they?

If you want to make the NHS death rate look better, compare it to Afghanistan. It’s better there so long as you assume that the collateral damage deaths are caused by hospitals.

Same as the US. If you include deaths not caused by hospitals, you might make the avoidable death figures look a little better.

So why not move to a situation where no matter what the cause, you pay.

    e.g

    Sporting damage – you pay

    Smoking damage – you pay

    Car accident – you pay

On top of the NHS payments now of course.

e.g It’s all a symptom of the true debt of 7,000 bn pounds. They can’t pay it, but they will screw people in trying.

Mind you, lots of migrants getting care for free on the NHS. Lets start billing them

Actually, there is one benefit of nicotine.

It’s been well known for a long time that there are lot of heavy smokers who are also schizophrenic.

It turns out that nicotine suppresses lots of the symptoms. However, the effect only lasts a short while, hence the chain smoking.
