One of the most influential left wingers must Bob Crow, General Secretary of the RMT. Whatever people think of trade unions this man has stood up for his members and ordinary people no matter what has been thrown at the union.

  10. Liz McShane

Mehdi Hasan of The New Statesman is top of my list!

  11. Alexander Craven

    Dennis Skinner

  12. Rod

    Andy Newman of socialistunity blog

  13. Michael Thompson

    John Cruddas

  14. Stephen Hero

    David Harvey, hands down.

  15. Stephen Hero

    Oh and Salma Yaqoob.

  16. john lenin

George Galloway, leading spokesman of a pro-Palestinian position that is increasingly hard to contest (he also saw through the banking bubble before most and his talkSport radio show has a huge following)

  17. Liz McShane

John lenin- think gorgeous george ruled himself out of this type of poll years ago when he took leave of absence from his political duties and went on CBB and dressed up as a big fat pussy cat. There are no limits to the man’s shame.

  18. Mr. Sensible

    Well said, Liz.

So I was not surprised to see him ousted and the seat returned to Labour in the General Election.

    He and Kilroy between them…

  19. Liz McShane

Mr S – Yes, I forgot to add the vainglorious RKS to the list of self-seeking shameless so & sos….
