I echo the nomination of Tony Benn and – following Reuben’s comment about trade unionists – suggest Mark Serwotka, gen secretary of PCS. Also: Caroline Lucas MP – first Green MP – and Salma Yaqoob, who unfortunately wasn’t elected but, well, should have been.

Frank Field for putting the needs of the British people before childish tribal politics and helping the needy in our society by working with the government – no other left winger is as influential as that.
Peter Mandelson for confirming what we already knew about the despicable behaviour of Gordon Brown.
Liz McShane
Anon – that’s only two – surely you have lots more?
My no1 is Mehdi Hasan.

Liz – Well I like Tony Benn, a man of principal and Mehdi Hasan seems OK.
How’s that?
