Raab to face the wrath of Dale?

Tory blogger Iain Dale was spitting blood yesterday over the tactics of lobby groups like 38 Degrees in the wake of Raab-gate, yet today it has emerged that Tory MPs - including Raab - have been engaged in precisely the same practice he and Dale both abhor: cloning the same email in replies to constituents.

Tory blogger Iain Dale was spitting blood yesterday over the tactics of lobby groups like 38 Degrees in the wake of Raab-gate, yet today it has emerged that Tory MPs – including Raab – have been engaged in precisely the same practice he and Dale both abhor: cloning the same email in replies to constituents.

Dozens of Tory MPs sent exactly the same email in response to concerns about the BBC being under threat – with Raab himself cloning almost word-for-word the standard Tory response email then sending it on, rather similar to what he’s attacking 38 Degrees members for doing.

The cloned email reads:

“The Government fully supports the BBC and wants it to remain the cornerstone of UK public service broadcasting.

“However, I also strongly believe that the BBC can and should be doing more to ensure value for money for the taxpayer.”

The question now is: will the beacon of the Tory Party blogosphere now turn his guns on these errannt MPs? And will Raab self flagellate?!

Personally I don’t see the problem with cloning emails in reply to something as long as they answer the question asked of them, MPs shouldn’t be forced to add a personal touch just for the hell of it. 38 Degrees cloning emails and sending them all to the same person just made that person irritable whereas the person that receives it in this case will be satisfied as it has answered the question.
