Climate change secretary Ed Miliband has put the environment back on the agenda today with by travelling across England with Franny Armstrong, director of the climate change film “The Age of Stupid” and founder of the 10:10 campaign, talking about climate change and how to tackle it. He will stress to voters that their choices “will make a huge difference to the future of the planet”.
People have been able to tweet questions to Mr Miliband and Ms Armstrong via twitter – #edandfranny – and follow their progress on the “Ed’s Pledge” website. Here are some of the best questions:
@james_randerson: RT @ali_mfoe: Q: Ed, meat & dairy industry produces 1/5 of global emissions. How would you reduce impact of UK food production? #edandfranny
@sustainactmove: @guardianeco #edandfranny Ed: Why did the UK not vote against World Bank funding for Eskom’s Medupi coal power station?
@peopleandplanet: Ed: What would you do to ensure RBS lends money to companies reducing emissions rather than increasing them eg.tar sands firms? #edandfranny
@ali_mfoe: Q: Economic system based on continuous growth clearly doomed to failure on finite planet. What’s your vision of an alternative? #edandfranny
@JS350: #EdAndFranny Finally, how about leading unilaterally through an evidence based policy of limiting the use of our reserves to 60%?
Mr Miliband has also produced a video explaining what he is doing, and stressing the dangers of a Tory government – watch it here.
