Tory peer in attack on Jewish climate change activists; calls them “Hitler Youth”

Leading climate sceptic Lord Monckton has launched a venom-dripped tirade against young climate change activists, comparing them to Hitler Youth.

Eyes bulging, face contorted and jabbing threateningly, the former adviser to Margaret Thatcher tells Jewish activist Ben Wessel:

“No, no. I’m not going to shake the hand of Hitler Youth.”

To which Ben replied:

“Sir, as a Jew I’m not really sure how I should take that.”

Monckton:

“I’ll tell you how you should take it. You should take it.”

Ben:

“My grandparents escaped the Nazis growing up in Germany.”

    It reminds me of a certain former Mayor of London when he encountered an Evening Standard journalist….

    Livingstone: “What did you do before? Were you a German war criminal?”

    Finegold: “No, I’m Jewish. I wasn’t a German war criminal.”

    Livingstone: “Ah … right.”

    Finegold: “I’m actually quite offended by that. So, how did tonight go?”

    Livingstone: “Well you might be, but actually you are just like a concentration camp guard. You’re just doing it ’cause you’re paid to, aren’t you?”

    unseen – Sometimes the problem on LFF is the contributors are:

    1. Either unaware that when it comes to hypocrisy both sides are as bad
    2. Don’t care if they are considered to be hypocritical
    3. Get excited and blindly print anything

    Not sure which but I am surprised that there isn’t an editor who approves the posts in advance to ensure the case they present is the best one.

    The behaviour of the group who shouted down those who disagreed with them was comparable to the Hitler Youth. Lord Monckton’s choice of comparison was offensive, probably deliberately so.
    I should be on neither side. Ben Wessel should, if he is a Jew, know better; so should Lord Monckton.
    Ben Wessel threw the first stone.
