An overwhelming majority of Brits see Donald Trump’s America as a serious threat to global peace, according to a new report, after his reckless actions over the last two years.
According to the British Social Attitudes survey, 74% of the general public seem wary of the US’s place on the world stage, with the report from the National Centre for Social Research, finding that the British public feel the same threat level about the US that they feel about Iran (75%) and Israel (78%).
The perceived threat level is still lower than Russia (89%) but significantly higher than the one Brits feel about China (62%).
It’s not surprising that so many view Trump as a threat to peace, given his erratic actions on the world stage which could worsen following the Republicans’ recent loss of both the House and Senate.
Trump has waged war against Iran as well as supported Putin against Ukraine.
A greater proportion of Brits (42%) now say that they believe the UK’s interests are served with a closer relationship with “western Europe” – compared to just 9% who feel a closer link with Trump is for the best.
