Billionaire Elon Musk was among the biggest losers of election night during the US mid terms, which saw a historic repudiation of President Trump and his MAGA movement.

The Democrats have regained control of both the Senate and the House, in what has been a crushing defeat for Trump and a blow to his authority.

In a historic night for the Democrats, James Talarico became the first Democrat to be sent by Texas to the US Senate since 1988, while in Michigan Democrat Abdul El-Sayed, the doctor and progressive insurgent, made history in winning the closely watched Senate race, defeating the Republican Mike Rogers and becoming the country’s first Muslim senator.

In Maine Susan Collins conceded to Democrat Troy Jackson, letting go of a Senate seat she had held for almost 30 years.

Among the biggest losers of all was Trump ally Elon Musk who had poured $446 million dollars-the most a non-candidate has ever spent on an election-only to see his preferred candidates lose.

His America PAC targeted 43 House and Senate races across the United States, blanketing voters with television commercials, digital ads, text messages and mailers.

Musk had spent the most money in Texas, where his America PAC spent more than $33 million on efforts to elect Attorney General Ken Paxton to the Senate over Democrat James Talarico.
