Revealed: ‘Man of the people’ Nigel Farage has raked in more than £2 million in earnings and gifts since becoming an MP
The Reform leader has banked millions from second jobs, speaking events, and trips abroad
Reform leader Nigel Farage has pocketed more than £2 million outside of being an MP since he was elected in July 2024, according to analysis of the MPs’ register of financial interests.
This comes after it was revealed that Farage took a £5 million gift from cryptocurrency investor Christopher Harborne in 2024, shortly before deciding to stand as an MP.
Analysis by investigative outlet DeSmog found that Farage has now received £700,000 from right-wing broadcaster GB News, since July 2024.
He has also made over £415,000 from promoting gold for Direct Bullion, which is owned by Paul Withers. Withers also co-founded Stack BTC, the bitcoin company which Farage has bought a £215,000 stake in, and has been promoting.
The Reform leader has also made £220,000 from making short personalised video messages on Cameo.
In addition, Farage has accepted £272,000 in gifts, including several private jet flights to the United States, and F1 tickets provided by the Abu Dhabi government.
In the latest register of interests, he also listed a new gift from the South African businessman Avi Lasarow, who gave the Reform leader three tickets to a boxing match on 4 April worth £1,749.
Farage also accepted a £50,000 ticket to the World Economic Forum at Davos paid for by Iranian-Kazakh billionaire Sasan Ghandehari.
Back in April, DeSmog reported that over 70% of Farage’s backers are based abroad. This includes Harborne, the Thailand-based crypto investor who has donated £22 million to Reform to date.
This is all on top of Farage’s yearly MP salary of £94,000. From next year, the Reform politician will also be able to claim a pension from the European Union, of about £73,000 a year.
Reacting to Farage’s huge outside income, a Green Party spokesperson told DeSmog: “Nigel Farage is a multi-millionaire who is out for himself and working for the interests of his super-rich friends.”
“His whole career has been focused on personal gain and public division. He is failing his constituents and has no positive plan to help ordinary people with the cost of living crisis, housing or improving public services.”
Kamila Kingstone, a senior campaign lead at Spotlight on Corruption, said: “That Farage has amassed £2 million from personal earnings and gifts while a sitting member of Parliament should concern anyone who thinks an MP’s job is to represent their constituents.”
“It’s a systemic issue and highlights a wider failure of the rules that are supposed to ensure integrity in public life. It risks blurring the lines between public service and private interests, creating the perception – and in some cases a reality – that some politicians are in it for themselves.”
