Tories fall behind Lib Dems and Greens in Euro election poll
The Conservatives have fallen to fifth place in the European polls
The Conservatives have slipped to fifth in a poll for the European elections behind the Brexit Party, Labour, Liberal Democrats and the Greens.
A YouGov poll showed that support for the Tories was at just 10% – down from around 16% a month ago.
Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party is leading the polls on 34% followed by Labour on 16%, the Liberal Democrats on 15% and the Green parties on 11%.
The poll was celebrated by many Greens and Liberal Democrats on Twitter.
According to Caroline Lucas’s fromer press officer Matthew Butcher, this was the first time the Greens had ever been ahead of the Tories in a poll.
While they are struggling to win support in the European elections, the Conservatives are doing better in general election polling.
According to YouGov, they are joint with Labour on 24%. Those two are followed by the Brexit Party on 18%, the Liberal Democrats on 16% and the Green Party on 7%.
