Restore Britain campaigners chased out of Camden by locals

Supporters of the far-right Restore Britain were chased out of Camden by anti-racism activists as they tried to campaign for the upcoming Holborn and St Pancraas by-election.

Around 15 supporters of Rupert Lowe’s party had gathered near Camden Town tube station on Saturday morning to campaign for Restore Britain’s candidate ahead of a by-election which is taking place following the resignation of former Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

What they were not expecting were around 30 Stand Up to Racism activists who turned up to disrupt their canvassing session.

Footage shared online by Stand up to Racism shows protesters marching Restore Britain camapaigners off the streets while they shouted: “Refugees are welcome here.”

The incident comes after an investigation by Stand Up to Racism exposed ‘formal electoral support and practical campaign involvement by fascists and racial nationalists in Restore Britain’s first parliamentary campaign in London.’

It states: “The evidence includes the official nomination of Restore candidate Tyler Johnson, original social-media posts, public video and photographs from campaign events.

“It shows that Johnson’s formal proposer was Patrick McGinnis, leader of the National Housing Party, who has published a video blaming “Jewish ideas” for the supposed destruction of Britain.

“Michael Newland, a former senior British National Party official, also distributed Restore literature and appears to have addressed assembled campaigners. Johnson was present among the group.

“Callum Barker, a former activist in the fascist Homeland organisation, appears in photographs of the campaign. Homeland is a neo-Nazi party founded by former BNP leadership figures.”
