From having initially ruled out any deal with Restore Britain after a very public feud with the far-right party’s leader Rupert Lowe, Nigel Farage now seems to be warming to the idea of a deal with the far-right party and has set out his conditions.
Farage, who has currently seen his poll rankings tank after being embroiled in a number of scandals over his finances and his failure to properly declare financial support he has received, is currently fighting a by-election in Clacton after quitting an MP ahead of a Standards Committee investigation.
Reform has also seen its vote split by Restore in recent elections, a point not missed by Reform’s supporters.
Despite Farage trying to desperately reject claims his own party is far-right, the Reform UK leader is more than happy to do a deal with Restore, whose party leader Rupert Lowe has openly pushed far-right talking points and advocated mass deportations.
Now Farage has said that he is open to doing a deal with Restore, but only if Rupert Lowe expels a co-founder accused of antisemitism.
Farage wants Lowe to expel co-founder Charlie Downes, after he suggested Mr Farage had been “bought” by Jewish supporters.
A spokesperson for Reform UK confirmed that no discussions will take place until Mr Lowe takes decisive action against the Restore Britain co-founder.
They said: “There are antisemitic and extreme racists at or near the top of the party, and they would have to go first.
“We’re happy to talk but we can’t do when there are people in the party like Charlie Downes,” the spokesperson told The Telegraph.
