Nigel Farage should take a ‘break’ from politics, says former Reform UK chair
David Bull has suggested the Reform leader should “take some time out” of politics
The former chair of Reform UK, David Bull, has suggested that Nigel Farage should “take some time out” of politics.
This comes as Farage faces mounting pressure over the undeclared £5 million gift he received from crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne and as his popularity ratings continue to decline.
Farage is currently being investigated by the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner for failing to declare the £5 million donation which he received just weeks before he stood to become an MP at the 2024 election.
The Reform leader has claimed that the gift was “unconditional”. However, he has faced scrutiny over promoting pro-crypto currency policies.
These have included Farage lobbying the Bank of England to drop its plans to create a new state-run digital currency, “Britcoin”, and making Reform the first political party to accept crypto donations.
Speaking to Nick Ferrari on LBC, Bull said that “Politics is a ruthless business, and I think also one of the other things I would say to [Farage] as a friend and a colleague is he needs to take some time out and have a bit of a break, really.”
The ex-Reform chair also said that “the party is way bigger than Nigel”.
Bull was the chair of Reform for just under a year, before being replaced by Lee Anderson last month.
On Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg yesterday, broadcaster Piers Morgan said Farage “is dead in the water” due to the undeclared gift, and that he will have to resign as leader.
With Bull suggesting Farage needs to take a break from politics, and another former Reform chair, Ben Habib saying Richard Tice would make a good leader of Reform – could Farage be on his way out?
