Counts underway across the country
The broadcasters’ exit poll has been published, and suggests that the Conservatives have lost their overall majority.
As many Tories will insist, it’s early days and this is only a projection. But it’s difficult to see an outcome that isn’t a humiliation for Theresa May. She took a gamble, and has almost certainly lost.
The projected seat breakdown is as follows
Con: 314
Lab: 266
Lib Dems: 14
SNP: 34
Plaid Cymru: 3
Green: 1
Northern Ireland: 18
UKIP: 0
