Poll: Should Britain take in more refugees?

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Have your say

The pictures of Aylan Kurdi, the three-year-old Syrian boy found washed up on a beach in Antalya, Turkey, appear to have (finally) brought it home to the British commentariat that more must be done to help those refugees currently fleeing from war and dictatorship.

As such, David Cameron is coming under increasing pressure to let in more refugees. Up to now the prime minister has responded that Britain is doing a great deal to help refugees – but by spending money on aid to be sent to the areas where people are fleeing in the first place.

But are the prime minister’s critics right – should Britain take in more refugees? Or is Britain, as the PM likes to point out, already doing its bit?

Have your say – the results of the poll will be published early next week.

Scotland has a population density of 68 per square kilometre. Hardly crowded? London has only just passed the population it had in 1938. No we do not have way too many.

Rubbish. The rest of Europe are not panicking trying to keep refugees out. Germany has just said they will welcome 800,000 refugees this year. Not panicking but benefitting from more workers.

Fat chance of that. 1. They don’t qualify; 2. They actually want to work, even if it involves doing the grotty badly paid jobs that nobody else wants. Anything to survive. Have you actually looked the pictures of Syria and Iraq or the refugee camps in Turkey on the news – or do you just stick to celebrity gossip? As for mobile phones: had it ever occurred to you that they might be carrying the same phones that they owned before war broke out in their countries of origin?

Or was it inherited money, as per Donald Trump, Nigel Farage or George Osborne?
