He thinks feminists are ‘obnoxious bigots’: meet the new justice minister

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Dominic Raab is no more keen on the Equality Act than he is on the Human Rights Act

Esher and Walton MP Dominic Raab has just been made justice minister alongside Michael Gove.

Raab is a longtime critic of the Human Rights Act – this appointment looks like David Cameron’s way of saying he is serious about scrapping it. In January 2014 Raab voted to allow human rights grounds to be used to prevent a foreign criminal being deported only in cases where there would be a breach of right to life or the right not to be tortured.

In 2013, he voted to remove the duty on the Commission for Equality and Human Rights to work to support the development of a society in which people’s ability to achieve their potential is not limited by prejudice or discrimination.

And in 2013 he also voted against making it illegal to discriminate on grounds of caste.

Raab also took an unusual stance on gender equality in 2011, when he expressed his fears that ‘from the cradle to the grave, men are getting a raw deal’. He attacked the ‘obnoxious bigotry’ of feminists and complained that men work longer hours than women (no mention of pay gap etc).

“While we have some of the toughest anti-discrimination laws in the world, we are blind to some of the most flagrant discrimination – against men.”

Seeming to have fallen at the first hurdle – assuming that feminism is anti-men  – Raab also suggested that men start ‘burning their briefs’, presumably as a long- overdue retaliation against the feminists of the sixties (who did not, in fact, burn their bras.)

Raab’s diatribe continued:

“Britain’s not perfect, and we will never eradicate all human prejudice.”

This is especially true when we do not understand that prejudice. Another interesting choice from David Cameron.

Just dropping in here to say that actually, you’re right. The figure is FAR greater than a third. Almost 100% of women will experience sexual assault or at minimum physical harassment within their lives.

The majority of such shaming comes from other men and is as much a product of the damage to our society caused by gender inequality (towards women) as the oppression of women. Calling a man feminine can only be an insult if women are seen as inferior.

“As a woman, you are assumed more worthy of respect.”
    “You are probably mentally ill.”
Can you not see the self-contradiction here? Telling someone they’re legitimately crazy because you disagree with their experience within a discussion is about the most disrespectful behaviour I can think of.

Why do you think it is that women require sheltering to such a greater extent?

It isn’t ‘failure’ that causes a woman to have to run for shelter. It’s sexual abuse, rape, violence and the threat of death. These happen to men as well but far less often (and they are also offered shelter). The frequency informs the funding.

Sorry, if you’re not male you have no business femsplaining the masculine to men. No different to me publishing, “The third trimester and what to expect.”
Men are constantly being shamed by women who do most of the slut shaming as well. From the cradle to the grave. Men do do it too, particularly the white knights protecting and preening to the women.
    In very general terms.

    Not all men nor women.
This down trodden oppressed trope feminism wheels about is a cultural change agent capitalizing on the natural human bias to protect women, so they can demand more money to fight the ‘patriarchy.’
Western women today are the most privileged and protected class in the history of humanity. Just try hurting one in public and what what happens next. Men on the other hand can be slapped up and down high street all day by a woman.
I know what they taught you in gender studies but it simply doesn’t hold up to the figures. Maths don’t lie.
And calling a man feminine is to call him physically weak, not to oppress women. And physical strength is on of the social demands on men who must serve women, sacrificing their lives at the Temple of Gyno.
Again, do the math in the gym to find reality, not what gender studies says. Don’t be a prevaricator by conflating physical inferiority to any other measure. Weaker is not less than until we hit the weights. In that, women are often inferior. Women have other talents that men cannot compete with where women are far superior to men.
Feminists constantly conflate skills sets and abilities with human value which is inviolate.
You CANNOT be worth more nor less that me as a human so stop lying about men saying we do.
