Fracking enjoys widespread support in Britain, according to a new survey.
Research carried out by the research group Populus for UK Onshore Oil and Gas (UKOOG) found that 57 per cent were in favour of the controversial tachnique which extracts shale gas from the ground.
The poll quizzed 4,000 people and found that 16 per cent were opposed, with just over a quarter (27 per cent) undecided.
The poll shows that the public would like to see the government use both shale gas and renewables to meet the country’s energy requirements.

Definitely not. The energy giants are blinkering the public to many facts, which if known, could well change be a game changer.
For instance, a recent survey in Canada found that the colossal amount of water needed for fracking was draining the land around the drill sites of this precious resource. Not only did this draining change the environment, more importantly it is affecting the ability of local farmers to produce crops. Secondly, the incredible amounts of water used cannot be reclaimed from the deep shafts. When it goes down it will be gone. Is that generally known by the public? I think not.
Once more we see governments pressured by the energy giants. This time to use fracking as a quick fix to keep the profits coming in, a quick fix that is an ecological disaster waiting to happen.
For goodness sake, the amount of money the energy companies make would be better invested in long term energy source projects such as solar, wind or tidal to name but three.
Energy Companies: For once in your greedy existence think of our children not just your f*****g profits.

The damage cause by fracking is PERMANENT!!! The land used can NVER be used for anything else again. It is left baron FOREVER!!! This little fact is kept out of the press mainly and it’s the most important one. The answer is we should never FRACK ever!!! We should invest in the solar roadways project for a start. Then I think we should cover the Isle of Wight’s roads and car park in them as an example to the world. Any land mass covered in them produces 3x more energy than it does with fossil fuels and it is totally clean!!! and FREE!!!!!!! They say they want energy independence well it’s right above us you idiots and you know it!!!!

Competition was not a principle or Darwins theory. That’s a common misconception. “Survival of the Fittest” was a term coined by Herbert Spencer. Darwin mainly focused on environmental changes that, through random mutation of genes, turned to favour those that possessed genetic characteristics that favoured them in the new environment. Herbert Spencer, however, believed that evolution was a progressive process which worked on the basis of improvement. there are other lifeforms on this planet that have been way more successful than us. They are called bacteria. Even they reach a balance with the resources in their environment naturally. We could be seen as less evolved because we have failed at that massively.
