Unemployment decreased by 77,000 between September 2013 and November 2013 to 2.33 million, with the unemployment rate now at 6.9 per cent, today’s labour market statistics reveal.
Unemployment decreased by 77,000 from September to November 2013 to 2.33 million, with the unemployment rate now at 6.9 per cent, today’s labour market statistics reveal.
The headline figures are:
- Employment was up by 239,000 from September to November 2013 and up by 691,000 on a year earlier to 30.39 million for December 2013 to February 2014.
- Unemployment was down by 77,000 from September to November 2013 and down by 320,000 on a year earlier to 2.24 million for December 2013 to February 2014.
- Economic inactivity was down by 86,000 from September to November 2013 and down by 104,000 on a year earlier to 8.85 million for December 2013 to February 2014.
- Between December 2012 to February 2013 and December 2013 to February 2014, total pay (including bonuses) for employess in Great Britain increased by 1.7% and regular pay (excluding bonuses) increased by 1.4%.
