The most sincere, grounded and effective Chancellor and Prime Minister we’ve had, nationally and internationally, certainly in the last 60 years. Like Thatcher (!) you have moved the centre of what counts as politically mainstream/normal a significant distance in one direction. Nobody now would argue against the minumum wage, those opposed to civil partnerships are now an isolated fringe, and thank goodness it was you at the helm over the last couple of years… THANK YOU.

thanks Gordon Brown. you had a rough deal and were crucified by the media, who were already turning on Blair. but you can hold your head up high because you did a good job, and it will be sad to see that good work undone. the cons were never for the working classes, and the libs have just committed political suicide – they won’t be forgiven for selling out. i hope you find something to move on to, where your efforts will be appreciated. pm is a thankless job, as cameron will find out soon. my vote will be with labour in the next election.

Thank you Gordon for … debt cancellation, new hospitals, new schools, new services, minimum wage, 10 years prosperity, preventing a great depression, tax credits…..and dogged determination to do the right thing by the public
