MPs call on Nigel Farage to suspend Reform mayor under police investigation
Reform’s Luke Campbell is alleged to have shown naked pictures of himself to a female colleague
Three Labour MPs have written to Nigel Farage calling on him to suspend a Reform mayor who is under investigation by police for alleged cyberflashing.
Luke Campbell, the mayor of Hull and East Yorkshire, is alleged to have shown a female officer who works for the local authority four fully “naked and sexualised images” of himself back in May.
Campbell is an Olympic gold medallist boxer and a rising star with Nigel Farage’s party.
Hull’s Labour MPs have said that it is “best practice” to suspend party membership while the police investigate, adding that suspending him is “in no way a determination of guilt”.
The MPs also say that “for the good of HEYCA” Campbell should step back from his duties as mayor while the investigation takes place.
The Reform politician is also facing allegations of bullying, intimidation, threats of physical violence, racist abuse, and homophobia.
He has also been accused of breaches of confidentiality and failures to provide a safe working environment involving staff at Hull and East Yorkshire Combined Authority (HEYCA), which he leads.
The Observer first reported on the alleged incident three weeks ago.
The letter says that “In light of the seriousness of the allegations made against Luke Campbell, potentially involving criminal offences, we would have expected Reform UK to have taken some form of action”.
The MPs added that they were “very surprised” that Reform still hadn’t suspended him.
The woman claimed that she was forced out of her job shortly after the alleged cyberflashing incident took place in May, according to documents seen by The Observer.
Written evidence detailing the allegations describes how Campbell allegedly called the woman over to his desk inside an office in central Hull and showed her the images on his computer.
The woman said she was left feeling “shocked, embarrassed and humiliated” after the mayor and male colleagues laughed at her reaction, according to the documents.
“I was deliberately exposed to naked and sexualised images involving the mayor in the workplace, without my consent, and was laughed at when I was visibly embarrassed,” the female officer alleges in one report.
“In my view, this was unwanted conduct of a sexual nature which violated my dignity and created a humiliating, degrading and offensive working environment.”
In another report, a witness corroborates seeing Campbell and two male colleagues ushering a female officer to look at his laptop, which showed an image of a naked man with a tattoo, and that the incident left the witness feeling “uneasy”.
According to the Observer, around three weeks after the alleged incident, the female officer, who was at the time working as a contractor but had accepted the offer of a permanent role, was told via an eight-minute Teams call that the offer had been withdrawn.
These aren’t the only allegations Campbell has faced.
In August 2025, the Telegraph reported that staff were in revolt over a “toxic working environment” at the newly created HEYCA. This resulted in Campbell asking five senior staff to resign after a series of conflicts.
