Reform UK continues to lurch from one scandal to the next, as a series of damning revelations continue to emerge about the party’s activists and members expressing racist, misogynistic and hateful views following a year-long undercover investigation by ITV.
Several Reform members have been suspended or resigned following the revelations, however rather than taking swift and decisive action to deal with the racism in his party, Farage has sought to claim that his party is the victim of an ‘estbalishment stitch up’.
So what are some of the most damning cases exposed so far as part of the documentary, here’s a roundup of some of them below:
Mayoral candidate accused of using racist slur against David Lammy
One of the undercover clips shows a senior Reform official accusing Farage of “protecting” a mayoral candidate who said David Lammy should “go back home to the Caribbean”.
Farage was urged to sack Chris Parry last December after he said that was where the then justice secretary’s “loyalties lie”.
However, despite the pleas, Parry, a former Rear Admiral, survived as Reform’s candidate to be mayor of Hampshire and the Solent.
Reform councillors made racist and sexist remarks
Undercover ITV journalists recorded a number of the party’s councillors making sexist and racist remarks, including Councillor Alan Feeney in Solihull, who was recorded saying that the area had been “infested” with Asian families, who he referred to as “absolute parasites”.
Mr Feeney also said of Asian people: “Drag them out of their homes, stick them on planes and f*** them off to Pakistan.”
Chris Whelan, a Reform election candidate in Solihull, said of a female Reform candidate: “If she was my daughter, it would still be bath night on a Thursday. I’ll wash you properly this time.”
Dean Miller, a Reform councillor for Bromley, was filmed undercover calling for King Charles to be beheaded.
“Apparently King Charles is a f***ing Muslim… someone from the inside saw a f***ing prayer mat and all that in one of his f***ing rooms … I think that’s f***ing traitorous,” he said.
Reform activist and MP hopeful said Muslims like Zia Yusuf ‘cannot be British’
In footage broadcast yesterday, an unnamed Reform activist said that Muslims like the party’s home affairs spokesperson Zia Yusuf, could not be British and also claimed that asylum seekers should be put in “concentration camps”.
He said: “If a Muslim’s prepared to de-convert, I’m happy.
“But if they want to remain faithful to Islam, then this would be, I would have disagreements, especially with, um, I mean, as far as I understand, (Reform home affairs spokesman) Zia Yusuf is a Muslim.
“To me… you cannot be a Muslim and British… it’s like oil and water.”
MP Sarah Pochin said the party was ‘f***ing chauvinistic’
Reform MP Sarah Pochin was secretly recorded by an undercover ITV reporter saying the party has a ‘male issue’, and that it ‘excludes you if you’re a woman’.
Speaking to an undercover reporter acting as a press officer at Reform, Pochin says the party “so needs women press officers.”
She goes on to label Reform colleagues as “f***ing chauvinistic,” continuing: “I go out on all the shows to go ‘Oh no, it’s lovely, they’re all so welcoming.’ S***.”
