A poll of Labour Party members has found that leadership hopeful Wes Streeting, would lose a contest against a number of contenders in a head-to-head race.

The poll, carried out by YouGov, asked party members who they would prefer in a leadership ballot between Streeting and a number of other senior Labour MPs, including Keir Starmer, Andy Burnham, Angela Rayner and Ed Miliband.

It found that Streeting would lose in a contest to all of the aforementioned Labour politicians.

Streeting would get the support of 15% of members against Starmer’s 65%, if he were to take on the Prime Minister in a head-to-head contest.

Likewise, in alternative contests, Wes Streeting loses by wide margins to each of Andy Burnham (who would be backed by 80% of Labour members to Streeting’s 10%), Angela Rayner (by 70% to 19%) and Ed Miliband (by 58% to 28%).
