Labour takes poll lead as Tory support dips
The Tories received their worst polling result since 2013
The Labour Party established a consistent lead in the opinion polls last week as support for the Conservatives dropped.
Four opinion polls published last week said that the Labour Party was ahead of the Conservatives in the polls.
Labour’s poll lead varied from nine points to three points and their vote share was between 32% and 40%.
While Labour’s vote share is about the same as it was in March, the Conservative’s vote share has been dropping since mid-March.
In one YouGov poll, Tory support was as low as 28%. This is their worst polling result since 2013.
The same poll had UKIP on 11%, the Liberal Democrats on 8% and the Greens on 4%.
In the 2017 election, the Conservatives got 42% of the vote while Labour got 40%. This was a historically high proportion of the vote for the two main parties to get.
