Reform’s Makerfield candidate said Brexiteers peddled ‘nationalistic pish’

Robert Kenyon called Brexit an economically self-harming project on an online forum in 2016

Reform’s candidate in the upcoming Makerfield by-election called Brexit a self-harming project and criticised Brexiteers for peddling “nationalistic pish”.

As reported by the Telegraph, Robert Kenyon said Brexit meant Britain had “shot our economy in the foot” and would have “no say whatsoever” on EU rules, adding that the country would have to “pick up the pieces”.

The Reform candidate said Brexiteer politicians like Nigel Farage had peddled “nationalistic pish and got [the] working class vote”, which he described as “a bit silly”.

Kenyon made the comments on a now defunct rugby league forum six hours after the Brexit referendum result was announced.

In other posts unearthed earlier this week, Robert Kenyon praised European freedom of movement and appeared to say that he didn’t vote for Brexit in 2016

He also wrote on the same online rugby forum that he “woke up the day after Brexit s—ing myself to what was voted for”.

The flurry of comments in which Kenyon criticised Brexit call into question Reform’s claim that their candidate is a “proud Brexiteer” who voted Leave in 2016.

It has also been revealed that Kenyon was Facebook friends with neo-fascists Gary Raikes and Alex Eversfield and BNP campaigner Robert Baggs.

Kenyon shared posts by far-right influencer Carl Benjamin, and has written derogatory comments about women, including saying women “can’t drive” and that they have abortions so they can “shag anyone they want”.
