In an excoriating article published for Foreign Policy’s website, Rothkopf – Deputy Undersecretary of Commerce for International Trade under President Clinton’s administration – said:
“I used to think David Cameron was just an empty suit. But it is increasingly clear that the former PR guy, is a spin-ster who ought to be ditched at the altar both by the British people and by the Obama administration.”
Writing in response to a comment piece in yesterday’s Guardian by Timothy Garton-Ash, Rothkopf outlines his views on Cameron’s decision to partner in the European Parliament with anti-Semite, Michal Kaminski of the Polish Law and Justice Party.
Rothkopf says the decision:
“makes him [Cameron] an even more dubious choice to be Britain’s next prime minister than he was before and, should he attain that post, someone about whom the Obama administration ought to be very cautious. A pillar of leadership acumen he ain’t.”
Rothkopf’s is a visitng fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a global international think tank with offices in Washington, D.C., Moscow, Beijing, Beirut and Brussels. He was a former Managing Director of Kissinger and Associates, which advises clients on government relations around the world. Their former staff members include Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner and New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson.
