Racial slur ‘climategate’ blogger loses Press Complaints Commission cases

Richard North, the influential right wing blogger who was exposed by Left Foot Forward last week for making racist comments on his blog, has lost two cases he brought before the Press Complaints Commission (PCC) about the reporting of climate change in The Sunday Times and The Guardian. North was at the forefront of briefing, and even writing in, mainstream media during the controversy earlier this year about climate science.

Johann Hari skewers Richard Littlejohn on his own show

Award-winning Indy journalist Johann Hari has put right-wing Mail attack dog Richard Littlejohn to the sword on his own Sky News show. Hari tore into Littlejohn for spreading lies which the BNP feed on, his ignorance over asylum seeker benefits and BNP leader Nick Griffin’s description of him as his “favourite journalist”.

Lib Dem foreign minister’s French slur

Foreign office minister Jeremy Browne was accused of racism by a heckler on Question Time last night after remarks about the French. Talking about the Anglo-French defence treaty signed by the prime minister and President Sarkozy this week, he said: “We’re not merging our Army with France. Our soldiers won’t be required to speak French or wear onions round their necks or stripey t-shirts, or ride bicycles.”
