TUC calls on Labour to make good on its promise to deliver ‘biggest wave of insourcing in a generation’
The motion was proposed by UNISON
Delegates at this year’s TUC Congress in Brighton have voted to call on Labour to implement its promise to deliver ‘the biggest wave of insourcing in a generation’.
At the Congress, delegates backed a motion proposed by UNISON which called for “mass insourcing of public services before the next general election”.
In advance of the 2024 general election, the Labour Party committed to deliver “the biggest wave of insourcing in a generation”.
The motion called for Labour to Bring forward a timetable for insourcing in the public sector, to transfer outsourced workers into direct public sector employment and to “remove legislative, financial and procurement barriers that prevent public bodies bringing services back in-house”.
The motion was seconded by the PCS Union. Delegates from the RMT, UCU, FBU and Unite spoke in the debate to support the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
