Richard Tice absurdly claims that banner unfurled by protesters at conference ‘could easily have been a bomb’
Tice made the comments after several Climate Resistance activists were attacked by Reform members
Reform deputy leader Richard Tice has made an outlandish claim that a banner that Greenpeace protesters unfurled at Reform conference could have been a bomb.
Tice said that the police should be “very concerned by the serious threat” to him and Nigel Farage as a result of the Greenpeace banner being unfurled.
His comments come after several activists from campaign group Climate Resistance were attacked by Reform members on Saturday, and sustained injuries.
Yet, Tice told The Telegraph that “Police should be very concerned by the serious threat to me and Nigel as a result of the security lapse that allowed protesters to display a banner behind me when speaking, as this could easily have been a bomb.”
West Midlands Police has said it is aware of the video circulating online that shows a woman being assaulted but that they haven’t received a complaint.
Police are calling on the woman to come forward so they can carry out enquiries.
Farage separately claimed that his speech to conference on Saturday had to be delayed following advice from counter terrorism police.
West Midlands Police has outright rejected Farage’s claim, saying counter terrorism police had “no involvement in the delivery of the Reform UK party conference”.
