Renewables such as wind and solar PV simply won’t cut it, as Germany’s experience has amply demonstrated.

We could begin by reversing the Tory policies on onshore wind, the Green Deal ( a programme of insulating older properties), the fuel escalator, solar micro-generation ( the FIT has been terminated) and so on. Let’s have a dramatic change to opposing Runway 3 at Heathrow and abandoning HS2 in favour of investment in railways throughout the UK.

Also, the Government needs to divest from fossil fuels and invest in Renewables which would provide more jobs than in the Fossil Fuel/Shale Gas and Nuclear Energy Industries as well as target Financial Institutions and Corporations to do the same. At the moment, the Govt Policy is to give preferential treatment and tax breaks to the Oil, Gas and Nuclear Sector while scrapping financial support to the Renewable Energy Sector.
