It’s a case of I’m alright Jack! This stinks of them being totally out of touch with the realities of life and feathering their own nests! Working class people have always been last on the list but left to foot the bill and to pay all the scrounging population that have spent a lifetime with their hand out taking but giving back nothing- and I am not talking about genuine benefits that are desperately needed by some. And then come the Women who have always been treated as 3rd class citizens, having spent years raising children effectively ending their careers,then having to put up with the glass ceiling on wages! Never being allowed to join pensions while working part time because family life was put before their own ! I am so angry at how women have been perceived and all the penalties we have paid and sacrifices made throughout our lifetime only to read of the self serving government plumping up their own pillows feathering their own nests having lived a very privileged lifestyle throughout their lifetime!

Women MPs get theirs at 60, whatever political party they represent, so they won’t be giving us much support! Teresa May included! Men used to get higher wages than women but this was always justified by the fact that women would get retirement pensionat 60, men at 65. Then there was career progression for men (as well as adding to their pension pot), while women had to break from employment to raise children. Women born in the nineteen fifties have been robbed of what should have been rightfully theirs. At the very least it should be given back, and backdated; but compensation would also be justified.

This is one of the worst crime by this government of we women born in the 50s.
I had to give up working just before my 50th birthday due to health so was looking forward to receiving my state pension at 60. I was not given much notice of the huge delay so it was a shock.
I made plans to return to my place of birth but of course that was not possible.
In the meantime my health has become worse so returning home is now out of the question.
I have worked since aged 15years old, a couple of days after leaving school and worked continuously looking towards retiring at 60. I am not enjoying living from hand to mouth on benefit and being made to feel like a scrounger
To have six years of my state pension stolen is not an easy thing to stomach. This is wrong, it is criminal and is one of the worst kind of injustices done to women in this country by this heartless goverment.
I am glad to know we are not going to take this lying down. I will be joining in the fight in any way I can and will donate as much as I can whenever I can.
It is good to know of the campaign for justice and of WASPI’s supporting each other. I am glad I found you.

May I endorse the comments of Jane Davies. I received my State pension on reaching the age of 65. As I live in Ethiopia my pension has been frozen at the level first paid on 20th June 2008.

Waspi are fighting hard to right the injustice done to the women born in the 50’s. I have had a 6 year increase to my SPA with no notice. Dismissed from job on grounds of ill health no pension living of savings for next 4 years no letter no notice no pension

It’s a disgrace that we have one of the lowest pension in the EU, even Spain has higher pension, Germany it is £400 a week, it’s about time we did something about.

Don’t forget that the UK is the only member of the OECD to freeze the state pensions of 4% of seniors just because of where they live in retirement, totally disregarding the fact they have paid into the NI scheme under the same terms as everyone else. For example if a pensioner joins their children and grandchildren and retires to Canada the pension is frozen at the amount of the first payment paid once there. But here’s the kicker, not everyone who retires overseas has their pension frozen, retire to the USA and one gets an indexed pension, in fact the majority of those who retire to another country have an indexed pension, just 4% are victims of this outrageous theft. Every opposition party has supported the ending of this rip off but once a party is voted into government this injustice is forgotten, therefore this has been allowed to go on for decades and the oldest and most vulnerable are getting a state pension of less than 20 pounds a week. So not only have this 4% had there cost of living increases stolen from them they are also victims of blatant discrimination from their own government.
