In my city, regional spatial plans were put forward and approved by imposed regional agencies; they imposed (not proposed) a 50% increase in population that resulted in the wiping out of huge areas of hedgerows, trees, and generally any green, open space.

The biggest proponents of these plans were, as the ‘regional agencies’ suggest, the Labour party, who also happened to be responsible for ripping out a running water and landscaped planted area in the middle of our city and replacing it with a ‘pedestrianised’ flagstoned area.
This fate has befell the majority of many of our favourite walks and play areas.

Two points:

This is ‘Left’ Foot Forward (Labour supporting, I presume) – a left wing site that is pro-mass immigration and will shout anybody down as a racist – or offensive – for pointing out a flaw regarding their environmentalism. Whatever happened to sustainability – are we going to keep on importing 300,000 people a year?

Secondly, I don’t tap away at my keyboard for the fun of it – I really do care about my environment; even if I don’t give a fig about the moronic CO2 bogey man, I do care about nature and the damage we are doing to it.
I have stood out in the rain with placards in a futile attempt to save trees and fields – to no avail.

The problem I have is that I care TOO much, and won’t stand for the opportunist hypocrisy of this seeming left wing concern; you are all as hell bent on destroying our environment as the Tories.

Someone needs to put them in their place. Michael Gove has tried, now it’s your turn!

His comments are not only a load of garbage but offensive. He needs to get a grip on reality. What Sheffield Council are doing is shameful and definitely not in the name of the Labour Party. No socialist council would contemplate such actions and totally disregard the views and feelings of local people. The people of Sheffield are working very hard to embarrass their council for their outrageous behaviour and at the same time with their limited resources defend the remaining trees from being cut down by a private contractor whose only interest is in making profits at the expense of local democracy and the environment. Shame on them too.

Post brexit we will not require any new housing because, as has already been shown, the people who come here to do highly technical work, nurses, doctors, teachers and essential labourers are leaving in their droves. Also, if you knew anything of either the trees in Sheffield or the Cuadrilla site in PNR you would realise just how ludicrous your criticism is. Furthermore, unlike all other parties, Green Party policy is to never use greenfield sites for housing generation preferring brownfield or derelict sites. It seems you just do not like genuinely honest politicians!

Where are we going to house and employ these incomers?

How many trees will have to be cut down, and how much of our natural environment destroyed to accommodate these new arrivals?
