I have always been surprised that the Tories never privatised it. It is the one institution that should be. There may be a case for keeping small bits of the BBC in the control of the state, for example children’s education but entertainment and news are two that should definitely not be in the control of the party in government. Apart from the UK the only other state owned broadcasters that I know of are in North Korea, China and Saudi Arabia.
There’s an idea JC should claim for his own.

Oh, I thought it was mentioned because the performance of financial markets has all sorts of implications for pensions, savings, consumer spending, and business investment, which many people care about because it affects them personally. But no, they read out the FTSE close because it’s actually a right wing conspiracy, comrade.
