This is the most sensible post of all those above – remove the compulsion to pay the license fee. If the people of Britain want the BBC to survive they’ll contribute if not they won’t.

True JOURNALISM is all about giving both sides to a story – NOT about favouring one over the other. That is why it would be a good thing for the BBC not to be funded by public money so that people can choose whether or not to listen to them. If their reports are always skewed to the Left then the Right would not subcribe to the BBC and vice versa. Harold – I don’t know which programmes you watched on the BBC but they do not reflect any that I saw – especially when it came to the SNP which had so much cover of Nicola Sturgeon it was nauseating, and now has made her think that she is some sort of royalty. All she is, is a woman leader of the Scottish Nationalists.

In reply to blarg1987. Then the BBC can make stuff that people want to buy instead of being forced to pay for. Why should I be made to pay for the BBC when there is no football on it on Saturday or Sunday afternoon.

Lets play a game, you and I set up our own TV stations that are subscription base, I am however free to show whatever I want, you on the other hand by charter have to show programmes that are in essence loss makers, such as news, sports, wildlife and small interest programmes. Who do you think is going to be successful under that system and who is going to go bust?
