We should have concentrated on integration as the key from the start which is how America managed to successfully assimilate many diverse cultures. This article from 2007 clearly sets out that some communities are living in cultural silos and that is a bad thing.

The Islamic faith school recently found to be telling pupils that contact with non-believers is not allowed is a perfect illustration of this mentality.
